Summary

This is a very familiar 12-bar major blues progression, following the standard I7–IV7–V7 framework with relatively few surprises. The opening stays on the I7 for four full bars, giving singers and soloists plenty of room to settle into the groove and develop ideas before the move to IV7 in bars 5–6. From there it returns to I7 in bars 7–8, then closes with the classic turnaround motion of V7 in bar 9, IV7 in bar 10, I7 in bar 11, and V7 in bar 12. Because the changes are well spaced and highly conventional, this progression is accessible for players at many levels while still offering enough harmonic movement in the final four bars for solos and melodies to trace the form clearly.
